Founded in 2022 by the inspiring Dominica Sims, Dominica’s Promise stands as a beacon of hope and transformation for women and girls who have been impacted by systemic injustices. After enduring a 15-year incarceration, Dominica returned to her community with a profound understanding of the challenges faced by systems-impacted women, particularly women of color who have experienced violence and incarceration. Recognizing a significant gap in available resources and programming tailored to their unique needs, she embarked on a mission to design and implement innovative initiatives that embody a holistic approach centered on empowerment and resilience.

Women who have been affected by the criminal justice system often confront a myriad of disproportionate barriers to employment and financial stability. These challenges are compounded for women of color, who frequently find themselves ensnared in cycles of poverty, housing instability, and ongoing system involvement. Without targeted support and resources, many remain trapped in these cycles, unable to break free and achieve their full potential.
